CleanTech OC is a trade association that seeks to promote economic growth in the Orange County clean technology industry, which is likely to be one of the most significant engines for job growth in Southern California over the next decade.

CleanTech OC consists of private companies, academic institutions, and local governmental entities that are engaged or interested in clean tech.

CleanTech OC focuses on the following:

  • Clean Tech Funding – Assisting its members in obtaining public and private funding for clean tech projects and ventures, including but not limited to clean tech-related “stimulus” grants and other financial incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (“ARRA”) and similar programs
  • Team-Building – Fostering cooperation and collaboration among the public, private, and academic sectors in the area of clean technology within Orange County, as well as between Orange County and other regions
  • Education – Serving as an information and data clearinghouse to ensure that its members have the latest and most complete information concerning the clean tech industry, including but not limited to government regulatory and funding programs
  • Regulatory Permitting and Compliance – Assisting its members with the unusually critical and complex issues relating to the permitting, siting, and environmental impacts of clean tech projects and facilities
  • Otherwise providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, information, and business opportunities among clean tech companies, government entities, and academia, including facilitating investment, joint business ventures, and other collaborations

What is Clean Tech?

Clean tech generally means those products, services, processes, techniques, and materials that reduce the use of natural resources (particularly fossil fuels) and reduce or eliminate harmful emissions or wastes, particularly in four areas:

Renewable Energy Generation
Wind, solar, geothermal, hydropower, and biofuels

Resource Conservation
Energy conservation through efficient use, storage and transmission, including automated lighting systems, high-efficiency power transmission cable, “smart meters,” internet-connected home appliances, utility networking systems, and other “smart grid” elements, as well as conservation of water and other resources through efficient use, recycling, etc.

Alternative Fuel Vehicles
Electric, natural gas, hybrid and other “clean” transportation vehicles and initiatives

Green Buildings and Green Chemistry
Environmentally friendly and/or energy-saving building materials, design and construction techniques, and new processes and technologies for the manufacture of consumer products that produce non-toxic waste materials (or even beneficial by-products) rather than hazardous waste
